Make the Speculation Drive the Story

An AI sci-fi story generator helps turn a speculative idea into an opening, scene, or story draft. The useful starting point is not a list of futuristic objects. It is a rule that changes what a character can do—and a consequence that makes their next choice difficult.

Give XPT the premise, the limits of the technology, and the person living with those limits. Ask for a short draft, compare possible directions, and revise the world logic before expanding the story. You can explore unsettling futures and morally complicated choices without making every character agree with the same answer.

Decide How Much Your Science Must Explain

ApproachGive XPTReview in the draft
Hard sci-fiA specific technical constraint and the assumptions you permitWhether a solution violates the stated limits
Social speculationA changed institution or technology and who controls itHow ordinary choices become different
Space operaThe scale, factions, travel rules, and personal loyaltyWhether big events still pressure the protagonist
First contactEach side's assumptions and communication limitsWhether misunderstandings follow from those differences

You can mix approaches, but tell XPT which rules are non-negotiable. An invented propulsion system can remain speculative while the crew's resource problem follows the limits you set. Verify real scientific claims separately; the draft is not scientific evidence.

How to Generate a Sci-Fi Story with XPT

1

Define the speculative change

State the setting, central invention or discovery, its limits, and the consequences already visible in the world.

2

Choose the human pressure

Add a protagonist, goal, obstacle, point of view, and subgenre. Specify whether you want a premise, outline, opening, or scene.

3

Draft and inspect the logic

Review cause and effect, character decisions, and technical claims. Revise the weakest rule before asking for the next section.

Pick the Scale of Your Science Fiction

Hard Sci-Fi with a Narrow Problem

Focus on a constrained mission, resource shortage, or technical failure. Ask the draft to distinguish real science from speculative assumptions, then verify the factual details separately.

Develop My Hard Sci-Fi Scene

Space Opera with Personal Stakes

Use the larger conflict to pressure a specific loyalty. Decide what a captain, courier, or exile wants before adding rival empires, fleets, and distant planets.

Build My Space Opera

Cyberpunk from Street Level

Explore who owns the infrastructure and who can afford to refuse it. A character's rent, employment, or access to care can make a surveillance premise feel more immediate than a vague evil corporation.

Explore My Cyberpunk Story

First Contact with Conflicting Interpretations

Give both sides different assumptions about the same signal or exchange. Build tension through what each interprets incorrectly rather than making the unfamiliar culture automatically hostile.

Write My First Contact

Try This Speculative Story Brief

Develop an opening scene for a near-future science-fiction story.
Premise: people can transfer fatigue, but the transfer cannot be reversed.
Protagonist: a night-shift technician supporting a younger sibling.
Goal: refuse a transfer without losing their job.
World rule: a transfer requires both people to authorize it.
Conflict: the employer controls who receives the most desirable shifts.
Use close third person and restrained prose. Reveal the system through
the technician's choices. Do not invent a device that removes the cost.
First propose three opening situations; wait before drafting prose.

Follow One Technology Through Everyday Life

Before expanding the plot, ask what the premise changes for three people: someone who can afford it, someone who maintains it, and someone who has to live without it. Choose one consequence that directly blocks your protagonist's goal and bring it into the next scene.

Then check the proposed ending against the opening rules. If a new device removes the cost at the last moment, revise the solution or establish the exception earlier. A world feels more convincing when its limits remain in force under pressure.
